About Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance is the systematic process to ensure that products, services, or processes meet specified quality standards and fulfill customer expectations. It focuses on improving development and production processes to prevent defects and ensure consistent results. Quality Assurance is integral to manufacturing. The KEBS quality Assurance directorate is mandated to carry out standardization of products in different fields including Engineering, Food, Agriculture and Beverages and Chemical products under the various product certification schemes. i.e., standardization mark , fortification mark, and Diamond mark Scheme

Standardization Mark

This is a mandatory product certification scheme for locally manufactured products provided for under section 10 of the Standards Act Cap 496, Laws of Kenya.

Fortification Mark

Food fortification is the addition of one or more vitamin and/or mineral to a food (usually referred to as food vehicle) to correct or prevent a demonstrated micronutrient deficiency.

Diamond Mark

The Diamond Mark of Quality (also referred to as D-Mark) is a voluntary product certification scheme operated by Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS). It is mark of excellence awarded.

What is Product Certification?

Product Certification is the third-party endorsement / attestation of a product carried out in accordance with the conformity assessment requirement as stipulated in a certification body Scheme/ Rules. Our Product Certification Framework is hedged on the provision of Standards Act Cap 496, EAC SQMT Act of 2006 and Requirements of ISO 17065:2012. Our product certification schemes are available in Nairobi and all our regional offices.

The products include products that are regulated by different authorities, bodies, regulations, departments, Raw Materials intended for further processing packaged agricultural commodities and Products with unverifiable claims
